Search your WordPress blog using MSN Search and aggrss

Scott Mitchell wrote an article on how to use MSN Search to search your own site. The article triggered me, and using the aggrss plugin I wrote a “snippet” you can use to search your WordPress blog.

Note, this is just a proof of concept and not supported.

  1. It is interesting, but I’m not an expert.
    Three questions, please:
    a) Is there a point of difference from other search tools?
    b) Could it search the entire site, or only the blog part?
    c) Could it run with Google, instead?
    Thank you

  2. PS

    a) Don’t know yet :)
    b) It will search the entire site. You get the same result by going to search.msn.com
    c) Maybe, I haven’t look at the google search api yet, but there must exist other plugins/hacks that do this.

I did this just to see if I could make it work :)

  3. I asked because I read somewhere in the WP forums that the WP search feature had some issues. In such a case, as you are so skilled, you could provide an alternative search tool… If it works, who not bring it to the community?
